Here you can explore, and accelerate your personal growth to achieve your career aspirations. The scale and breadth of our organisation offers you variety and choice in your career direction – up or across the business. It’s about defining your own course, and having the support to reach your destination.
Flexibility and Choice
Flexibility applies to every kind of role at Our Telekom. We are driving new ways of working, and giving you more choice in how you work. It’s not where you are, it’s what you do.
Recognising you for your efforts
At Our Telekom, we are passionate about recognising, celebrating and rewarding the right values, behaviours and results. This is an important part of our journey to build an organisation that truly connects with our customers. Of course, we embrace a culture where recognition can be as simple as saying “thank you” for a job well done, but we also have quality programs in place that reward our people for their efforts.
You deserve a reward
We like to think of ours as any good relationship - and that means we give a lot back.
When it comes to rewarding our people, we have nailed the basics – like generous staff discounts on our products and services, a reward and recognition program, health benefits and financial perks, but that is just the tip of the iceberg, because when it comes to improving the way you live and work, we really have taken it to a whole new level. Just think of all the things you love in your life - holidays, exotic adventures, shopping vouchers, dining experiences, annual leave – just to name a few. If you love to be rewarded with the things that matter to you most, then you will be excited by the sheer scale of offers you can get as a member of Our Telekom family – no matter where you are based around in the Solomon Islands.
Improving the customer experience from behind the scenes
“As a non-customer facing team, a challenge we often talk about is how we can improve our customers’ experience and help drive advocacy.
The beauty about our company-wide employee recognition and reward program is that recognition can be made at the grass roots level (peer-to-peer), where your manager and team can share in the celebration of your great work. It can also lead to greater accolade at the Chief Executive award by our Reward & Recognition Program– aligned with prestigious awards we already have in place.
Our approach to Learning
Regardless of the work you do, the experience you have, and your role in the organisation, the most effective way of developing your skills is through a holistic approach to development.
70 percent of your Development should come through on-the-job experience
The most significant development comes from on-the-job-experience. Majority of development at work (about 70%) happens this way, with people's development coming from both their success, and their mistakes. That is OK. Learning on the job means breaking things sometimes, but it is about picking yourself up and growing from the experience.
20 percent of your Development should come from relationship with people around you, like your coaches and mentors
This could be through coaching, mentoring, and your networks, observing role models at work, going to management meetings, sharing best practice or participating in a community of practice. We have developed a framework to help you with the power of mentoring as part of your development.
You will also have regular development conversations with your manager; it is here that you can get the one-on-one coaching you need to succeed in your role, as well as plan for your career goals and aspirations.
10 percent should come from
Formal training including classroom or online is what people most associate with development. This type of development is valuable because it gives you the theory and concepts you will apply on-the-job. As adults we get the most from these sessions when we are given the opportunity to directly apply what we learn in the classroom to our work back in the business.
Our people are thought leaders
Dynamic, quick and clued-up, our people are the brains behind amazing achievements like keeping on top of the technology curve and changes in the telecommunication industry in Solomon Islands, or masterminding the store of the future – and, because they share in the same vision, and tap into something greater than themselves, they make the time to pass on their knowledge, mentoring you, or guiding you in your career path.
Our Learning & Development team are the cream of the crop – just look at their credentials and achievements. This team is deeply rooted in the success and development of our people, and as a signifier of this commitment, you only need to look to the initiatives they are spurring – like the opportunity to job shadow them, monthly coaching, training for managers and employees. These are some of the development programs employees at Our Telekom initiated and encourage.
Here you will have the opportunity to work with some of the best minds in the industry, people who are passionate about Our Telekom and work together to achieve great things.
