Our Telekom Marketing forum successfully ended

A three day Marketing Forum hosted by Our Telekom has successfully ended in Honiara on Thursday 12th October 2017.

The Marketing forum is organised by the Pacific Islands  Telecommunication Association and was held at the Ahara Conference facility, Heritage Park Hotel from Tuesday 10th to Thursday 12th October.

The three days forum saw participants from neighbouring telecommunication companies in the region namely Telecom Fiji, Tonga Communications, Tuvalu Telecom, Telecom Vanuatu, Blue Sky Cook Islands, FSM Telecom and Bemobile.

Day one session 1 of the Forum began with case studies and country presentations on Product Management which was a opportunity to hear the set up and vision of each organisations and their interpretation of their market and marketing strategies. Day one session 2 discussed the KPIS and effective Data analysis which aimed at providing a better understanding in managing the commercial performance of products and services.

Day two was an important session for Our Telekom as preparations are underway to launch 4G in the country. The session covered LTE case studies and Data pricing. Sessions 5, 6 and 7 on day two also looked at Customer segmentation and churn, pricing plans and strategy and how organisations can utilize Digital Marketing.

The final day sessions ended with Marketing Planning which was more of a refresher session where participants were reminded of the fundamentals of marketing plans.

Our Telekom Manager Products Francis Wa'ahero says “One of the things stressed during the forum was the requirement for the availability of data sources, the importance of obtaining data and the analysis of that data for improved market segmentation and marketing activities.”

Marketing Executive Acquisition Hilda Maeda also a participant of the workshop says “This is the first PITA worksop/forum I have attended and it was interesting to hear about what other telecommunication companies were doing around the pacific. For example Cook Islands, who have catered for the tourist market in their own country tailoring prepaid SIM cards especially for their visitors. Cook Islands capped the validity of their tourist SIM cards to 15 days. That is something that I would like to propose we do here through our airport booth for our tourists and other guests who are here for only a short period of time.”

The forum in all was a great opportunity to learn from other Telecommunication companies and what they were doing in their own countries to overcome their challenges and improve and market their service.
